Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They could run from gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for various uses. There are several facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled whenever they require. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders which are able to be changed out when the machine must be refueled.
In order to avoid possible serious injury, certain safety measures must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For example: be sure to put on the correct safety equipment like heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Turn off the ignition of the forklift prior to changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed securely. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Keep in mind that it will turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never use any type of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
